Ladybug & Ant Family Mural
Congratulations! You have found the Ladybug & Ant Family mural located at the Booker T. Washington Community Center! Read the following text and write down some facts on your form.
Lady bugs are actually beetles. They are great at controlling aphids in gardens because they are voracious predators! Many different types of invasive lady bugs are driving out our native ladybugs. Ladybugs use their feet and antenna to smell their surroundings.
Ants can lift 10 to 50 times their weight! There are over 10,000 species of ants on earth. Ants have two stomachs – one for holding food and the other for digesting food. Ants are very old and have been living on earth long before the dinosaurs!
American elms can grow very tall, sometimes over 100 feet, and their wood is strong, making it useful for making furniture. In the fall, their leaves turn a beautiful yellow color.
