American Robin Mural
Congratulations! You have found the American Robin mural located at Jim Grimm Park! Read the following text and write down some facts on your form.
Unlike most birds, the American Robin lays beautiful baby-blue eggs. These thrushes occur across almost all the United States. They build nests out of a combination of mud and sticks. In one year, a female robin may lay three different sets of eggs.
You probably know a robin’s favorite meal is the earthworm. After a rain, you may notice robins hopping along the ground, twisting their heads this way and that. They are both looking for worms and listening for them. When they spot their prey, they quickly hop over to the area, and gulp! A tasty, delicious, and slimy worm is gobbled up.
We often think of Robins as a sign of spring, but some Robins live here all winter long. You can put out mealworms to provide them with a winter treat.
